From 1979 to 1985 I served in the U.S. Navy. It was the time in my life when I forged incredible friendships and created unforgettable memories. For almost anyone who has served in the military would understand the comradery that can be found there and how precious those relationships are for the rest of your life.

 

I want to also mention here that if it hadn't been for that huge, tough as nails marine sergeant, stationed at the Naval Academy, who taught me by example that being gay did not make you any less of a man, I would have never had the courage to accept my sexuality.
